Historical Context

Nnewi South Local Government Area was carved out of the former Nnewi Local Government in 1996 as part of Nigeria's local government reforms. The area has a rich Igbo heritage and has been home to industrious communities known for trading, agriculture, and craftsmanship for centuries.
